January 21st, 2010

  • Demolition permits have been obtained from the town of Whitby
  • Work is being completed to remove the damaged roof and replace it with a temporary flat roof to protect and stabilize the building
  • Work will also begin on building supports to ensure the north and south walls remain stable during the pre-construction phase
  • Dalton Professional Building Services have been engaged to undertake the pre-construction phase of the reconstruction
  • Reconstruction of the Lower Parish Hall Sunday School Rooms and Montessori school learning areas begin this coming week

January 10th, 2010

  • Our church office administrator return to the Office Wing of All Saints' on Thursday, January 11th.
  • Hard hats and safety shoes will no longer be required in the office wing or Parish Hall.
  • Only the Office Wing door may be used by the public for entry as the breezeway, sacristies, library and breezeway washrooms are now part of the construction site.
  • Cleaning of the parish hall and kitchen is complete.
  • Bids are being tendered for the next phase of work in the lower hall and lower office wing.
  • Permits are being sought for demolition of the existing church roof structure. Work to begin by late January.
  • All contents from the church are now removed.
  • A new furnace has been installed in the church basement supplying heat to protect the basement floor and worship space floor from freezing.

January 1st, 2010

  • Bids have been received to construct a temporary protective roof over the church and to build supports for the walls for the coming months.
  • Disposal of contents damaged by fire is on track to be complete in the next week.
  • Cleaning of floors, rugs and walls continues in the parish hall and office wing. Removal of water damaged walls and tiles in parish hall is nearly complete.
  • Stained glass windows have been removed and will be stored.
